Camp Golden Classics will include all the traditional summer camp fun you remember from, or missed out on in childhood: camp crafts, games, movies, and best of all, making lasting memories of fun with your fellow campers!
It will be a weeklong experience that you may choose to attend all day or half day. All registered participants will receive a camp t-shirt. Lunch will be provided for free daily along with a special ticket for the Friday, August 12 event: Classic Movies Under the Stars with a viewing of the 1959 classic, “Some Like It Hot” with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Marilyn Monroe.
Themes for the week is as follows: • Monday – Getting to know you – Welcome to Camp • Tuesday – All about Me – Self-Care • Wednesday – Let’s Get Moving • Thursday – A Walk in the Park • Friday – Carnival Day
As a special treat you will have the opportunity to learn about the Brain Health Initiative – Each an hour-long session - Monday – Brain Health & Aging – The Basics Learn and live an active life by learning more, being social, staying fit, eating healthy, sleeping better, and managing stress is our best bet for maintaining our brain health. Share your brain health tips and be inspired by others. This class is a good overview for anyone interested in improving their brain health and will provide you with action steps you can take along with resources to learn more. - Wednesday – Dementia Friend Session Learn the 5 key messages and 10 warning signs of dementia. Be an advocate and learn how to be patient and sympathetic of people living with dementia. Turn that understanding into action. Dementia Friends USA is part of a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Anyone can be a Dementia Friend – we all have a part to play in creating dementia friendly communities! - Friday – The MIND Diet Learn the best foods for brain health and wellness. Discover how to combine foods to reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Learn easy shortcuts to get brain healthy foods on your plate without having to put in too much work. Gain the tools you need to feed your brain well and reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
