2019 Delaware Riptide Aquatics Swim Team
Welcome to Delaware Riptide Aquatics!!
April 15th- Online Registration for Returning swimmers only will be open.
All registration is done online. Returning swimmers will not be allowed in the water if they haven’t registered.
-Swimmers are REQUIRED to wear a RIPTIDE Cap and navy blue suit during all meets.
-All swimmers need to have goggles during practice and meets.
-All Swimmers with long hair need to wear a cap to practice and meets.
-And it is highly recommended (not required) that swimmers ages 12 and under purchase swim fins for use in practice.
May 28th– June 7th - Evening practice begins at The Edge 18 Pool (the Legends)
Waves - (combined Waves and Tides) 4:00-5:00pm
Breakers - ( formerly Tidal Waves) 5-6:15pm
Tsunamis - 6:15-8pm
Thursday, May 30th- New Swimmer Tryouts at 5pm! Please print the waiver form from the website and bring it with you. Coaches will evaluate your swimmer at this time. New swimmers must be registered by June 6th at 5pm. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are attending.
Thursday, June 6th- Parent Meeting 5:45pm at the pool.
Thursday, June 6th- The Swim Shop will be at the pool from 4:30-6:30 for team suits orders. They will also have practice suits, caps, goggles, etc.
Saturday, June (date TBD) – There is an Official’s Clinic being held at the Dover YMCA. Please let me know if you are interested in attending the class, email email@example.com
Monday, June 10th – First day of morning practice. No evening practice going forward.

Practice times are subject to change based on the numbers of total team registration and within each group.
Tsunamis 6:00 – 7:45am
Breakers 7:45 – 9:00 am
Waves 9:00 – 10:00 am
Friday, June 28th– Parent / Swimmer Relay Fun Breakfast – This is a fun morning for all so please plan on joining us and bring your swimsuit!!
Friday, July 19th– Last regular season practice for all swimmers except swimmers going to the championship meet.
Sunday, July 21th – End-of-Season Awards Banquet (Place TBA)
July 22-26th – Practice this week is for swimmers who have a qualifying cut time for the Delmarva Swim League Championship meet, or have been invited to participate in a relay.
July 27th – Delmarva Swim League Championship Meet – for more information on the league and the champs meet go to www.delmarvaswim.org.
Minimum Ability Requirement for each Swimmer Group:
Waves: Experience ranging from a minimum of 25 yards on stomach and back unassisted without holding on to the lane lines to swimming 50 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of legal backstroke. Must be able to tread water for 1 minute up to swimming 25 yards of breaststroke and butterfly nearly legal 100 yards of freestyle without resting. Ability to float on stomach with face in the water and on back up to swimming 100 yards of freestyle without resting.
Breakers: Must be able to swim 50 yards of all 4 strokes (almost completely legal). Must have some knowledge of turns and transitions. Must be able to swim 200 yards of freestyle without resting and complete the 100 IM without resting.
Tsunamis: Ability to swim 100 yards of all 4 strokes (completely legal with appropriate turns). Ability to perform all turns including IM transitions. Must be able to swim 500 yards of freestyle without resting and complete the 200 IM without resting.
These categories are a general guideline and they are based on ability rather than age. It will be up to the coaches to determine if the swimmer needs to be moved into a different level based on their abilities. If your swimmer is asked to swim up a level, you will be asked to pay the difference in the fees, if necessary.
Tsunamis $195 per swimmer
Breakers $180 per swimmer
Waves $170 per swimmer
These fees pay for pool rental, coaching staff and lifeguard salaries, liability insurance for staff and swimmers, ribbons/awards, end of season banquet supplies and awards, equipment/maintenance/website, etc.
REFUND POLICY-Once registered, no refunds will be given after June 30th for any reason except medical reasons with a doctor’s note and the approval of the Riptide board members. Any refunds may be pro-rated based on the date a medical note is received and in all cases a $25 fee will be assessed.
