The 27th annual Superman Road Race is a mostly flat, 4 mile race which starts and ends in beautiful Fort Massac State Park on the Ohio River and runs on the streets of Metropolis, IL. It is the first of many events in the annual Superman Celebration. Superman is on hand for the start and the awards ceremony and is available during the race to visit with spectators.
Event details and schedule
Race Time: 7pm
Packet Pick-up: 5:30 - 6:45 pm at Fort Massac State Park at the big shelter at the 7th St. entrance.
Parking: Parking is available at the Trout Pond shelter and the parking area by the museum. Limited parking is available in the picnic area.
Waivers: You may be asked to sign a a waiver on site.
Aid Stations: There will be 2 aid stations with water on the 4 mile route.
Race Temps: Southern Illinois can be warm and humid in June. Dress accordingly.
Safety: Although there will be volunteers on the course, be aware that a portion of the course is residential and roads cannot be entirely closed. This includes portions of the park as there is a public campground.
