Radio Redux, held at the Hult Center in Eugene, is a reinterpretation of historic radio shows that captivated millions of people in the pre-TV days of the 1940s and ?50s. The Radio Redux troupe performs its plays much the same way as the original cast did, in front of a live studio audience. The actors are voice actors, they stand before the microphones with scripts in their hands, as the original radio stars did, reading their lines as they infuse them with the characters they are portraying. Along with a full gamut of sound effects, the actors dress in period clothing to better convey the earlier era of theater. A stop for dinner at the Oregon Electric Station will be had after the show.
Sunset Boulevard: A case of mistaken identity causes long-forgotten Hollywood silent screen star Norma Desmond to persuade a down-on-his-luck screenwriter to help her craft a script she believes will return her to prominence. Although finding the script abysmal, he takes the job in order to pad his bank account. But when the arrangement with the suicidal actress becomes untenable, he attempts to leave her, setting in motion a roller-coaster adventure that leads to a surprise ending.
We will depart the McMinnville Senior Center at 11:45am and return approximately at 7:30pm.
