What's Included

This Medication Aide (Med Tech) programs is approved by Virginia Board of Nursing and the course is designed to meet the training requirements to become eligible as a Medication Aide. Medication Aide is responsible for administering medication under the supervision of Registered Nurse or a vocational nurse. Medication Aide’s are responsible for administering medication in an Assisted Living Facility under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The curriculum includes a minimum of 48 hours of classroom instruction and 20 hours of supervised clinical instruction at an assisted living facility. Upon successful program completion, students will be eligible for the Medication Aide Certification Exam (testing fees not included in tuition). First Nursing Academy is offering this career oriented course and certification program in Manassas VA, Herndon VA and Woodbridge VA. Topics covered during the course: Medication administration via the oral and topical Medical asepsis Terminology Legal implications Hand hygiene Pre-Requisites: Hold a current, valid C.N.A. license Criminal Background Check Negative PPD or Chest X-ray Healthcare Provider CPR
