The 5th Annual Teardrop Century Ride for the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens is moving to beautiful and historic Madison, Georgia this year. On September 12th, hundreds of riders will head out to ride 101, 63, 35, or 21 miles to enjoy a fabulous day of cycling while raising awareness and funds to help Interfaith Hospitality (IHNA) provide emergency shelter and vital services for homeless families with children in Northeast Georgia.

Each year, IHNA helps more than 500 homeless families and individuals with the emergency support, services, and guidance needed to move from homelessness to lives of hope and productive, sustainable independence.  Since its inception in 2004, more than 3,000 IHNA volunteers have donated 150,000 hours of service, and have provided more than 25,000 “bed nights” of shelter. Nationally, IHNA is part of the Family Promise organization that has served more than 600,000 homeless folks since 1986.

And all you have to do is come ride and enjoy! The 5th Annual Teardrop departs from Morgan County High School, 1231 College Drive, Madison, GA at 9 a.m. on September 12th. All four routes – 101, 63, 35, and 21 miles - are absolutely lovely, traveling along many Antebellum Trail routes though such historic towns as Rutledge, Social Circle, Jersey, Good Hope, Watkinsville, Bostwick, and Fairplay. Routes are fully sagged and supported with great sag stops approximately every 15 miles. The short route – 21 miles – is a flat and easy out and back to the quaint town of Rutledge, making it an ideal choice for new and casual riders.

After the ride, stay for a delicious barbecue meal provided by Deryl Bailey and his Empowered Youth Program, bluegrass music, and a visit to great local shops in Madison (you'll be getting lots of coupons!).

The 5th Annual Teardrop is proudly presented by The Hub Bicyclesm Jittery Joe's Coffee, and Virginia McKenna, Licensed Professional Counselor.
