2021 Rookie Baseball
Organized by Los Altos Youth Baseball and SoftballAbout this event
Division Overview:
Rookie baseball is recommended for 6, 7, or 8 year olds.
We offer a Baseball Division called Rookie for higher skilled 6-year-olds who have played T-Ball and are ready for a higher level of play, all 7-year-olds regardless of skill level, and any 8-year-olds who have little experience and/or wish to play in a division, provided their skill level is not high enough to pose a safety risk for the younger players. Those 6-year-olds that register for Rookie baseball must have played T-Ball before and should be prepared to hit coach pitching and field balls that may at times be hit considerably harder than in T-Ball.
Rookie is a coach pitch division. This will better prepare the players for the start of A division. In Rookie baseball, squishy baseballs are used as in T-Ball. The goal of this division is to teach all kids to be able to make contact off of a pitched ball to prepare them for higher levels of baseball. A tee is still used when needed.
No scores are kept. Rookie plays two games per week, one on Saturdays and one during the week. Each team will hold one practice per week (day of the week TBD). We will do our very best to accommodate all “play together with” requests in this division. Each player will receive a jersey and hat as part of the registration fee.
To volunteer to manage or coach a team, select Yes to the volunteer option when you register your child and fill out the volunteer form that will appear in the registration process.
