Eligibility/Age Guidelines: 8 to 10 (7-year-olds if drafted up by Managers). Must have played one year of A ball or Rookie division.
Player Evaluations : All players must be evaluated to be placed in this division.
Division Overview: Double A is a kid pitch division designed to expand on the fundamentals learned in the Single A Division. Kids will alternate all positions on the field (unless a safety risk is of concern by the Manager). The season starts with kids pitching from 43 feet, and normal ball and strike counts. The players will build and refine their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game strategy.
Recommendation: Double A is highly recommended and required for all kids moving up from A Division or for the most advanced Rookie division players wanting to move up. There also will be many players who play two seasons in this division. 8 and 9-year-olds will benefit by developing and enhancing skill sets in this Division that they may not otherwise develop by moving straight to AAA. The relative ease of transition into AA is very valuable here. This is a great Division for developing players’ skills.
Teams will practice two times per week (days and times TBD) and there are 2 games per week with one on Saturday and a mid-week game.
