Do you have what it takes? Welcome to the Lake County Recreation Department’s Tri-It-High Triathlon and Du-It-High Duathlon. At 10,800 feet of elevation, this event is the highest Triathlon in Colorado if not the United States. Enjoy the majestic Sawatch Mountain Range scenery with the 2 highest peaks in Colorado as a backdrop and prove you have the stamina and endurance to compete in one of the Rocky Mountains’ ultimate Triathlon/Duathlons. The Course: The swim portion of the event will be held in our heated indoor facility with the bike and run legs being held on breathtaking courses at the base of Mt. Massive and on the scenic Turquoise Lake paved road. Results & Timing: Chip timing technology will be provided for this event by Race Rite Timing. Results with splits will be posted on-site during the event and at www.racerite.com. The Recreation Department will also post results Tuesday, July 16. Goodies: You can expect close parking, great race music, plenty to eat and drink, race goody bag – including a t-shirt, swim cap, awesome handcrafted awards unique to Leadville, Special Edition Melanzana Gear and use of the Lake County Swimming Pool. Divisions & Awards: Triathlon Awards will be presented to the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as the 1st and 2nd place finisher age 19 & under and in each 10 year age group beginning with age 20-29 up to age 60 and above. Each participant’s age for awards will be determined by their age on December 31, 2013. This is a standard rule in triathlon and duathlon’s. Members of the top male, female and coed relay teams and the first place male and female Clydesdale and Athena finishers will also receive awards. Duathlon awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place overall male and female finishers as well as the top male and female finisher age 19 & under and in each 10-year age group beginning with age 20-29 up to age 60 and above. All race participants will be eligible for an awesome prize giveaway at the conclusion of the race. Swim Practice: As a pre-registration bonus, the Lake County Swimming Pool will be open Saturday afternoon from 2:00-8:00 pm and Sunday from 6:00am until race time for participants to enjoy free of charge. Times & Directions: Race begins at 7:00 am on Sunday July 14, 2013 at the Lake County Swimming Pool. Pre-registration will be on Saturday July, 13th from 3:00-7:00pm and race day from 6:00-7:00am at the Pool. This will include packet pick-up and body marking. From I-70, take the Copper Mountain exit. Drive south on Hwy 91 to Leadville (28 Miles). Hwy 91 becomes Harrison Ave. in Leadville. Turn right on 6th St. and drive to 1000 W. 6th Street. The Swimming Pool (which is attached to the Lake County Intermediate School) will be located on the right.
