What's Included

(Recommended for Adults) Ijams Nature Center is now offering a news series of MEMBERS ONLY, monthly hikes that explore areas beyond Ijams’ borders with nature expert Ken Voorhis, who recently retired from his position of chief operations and education officer from Yellowstone Forever, the nonprofit education and philanthropic partner of Yellowstone National Park. This month, Ken will be leading a hike to Ramsay Cascades. This trail is for experienced hikers who are capable of climbing rock steps and tackling a fairly continual uphill climb after the initial two miles on an old roadbed. What makes this popular hike well worth it is a spectacular waterfall at the top and an awesome old growth forest with wonderful diversity and record-sized trees along the way. The trail begins in the Greenbriar area of the park east of Gatlinburg. Difficulty: Strenuous Length: 8 miles round trip with more than 2,000 ft. elevation gain All hikes will meet at the trail head. Specific directions, packing instructions, etc., will be sent upon registration. Hikes occur rain or shine and will have a maximum of 15 people, so early registration is strongly encouraged. You must be a current member of Ijams Nature Center to be eligible to register.
