About this event
With the enforcement of the Production Code in 1934 the Hollywood studios began one of the most short-lived and creative subgenres in film history - The Screwball Comedy. Equal parts social commentary and classical romantic deconstruction, these films created an entirely new visual and verbal style that reflected our cultural insecurities as the country teetered between the Great Depression and World War II. Five films of this period will be screened and discussed.
