This is one of the Great Courses designed for better living in the area of health and wellness. It is narrated by Dr. Jason M Satterfield from University of California, San Francisco, who has degrees in Brain Sciences, and Clinical Psychology and is Director of Behavioral Medicine at UC. The course covers a vast array of various aspects of bio psychosocial medicine. Topics to be covered in this course are: Defining health and illness; fight or flight vs. rest and digest; the neuroendocrine system; nature vs. nurture - genes, health and disease; behavior and disease prevention; making changes that last; modern-day stress and coping; relationships, intimacy and health; cancer and mind-body medicine; obesity-America's new epidemic; cognition in everyday life; personality type and health; how to improve your EQ; spirituality, occupational stress, socioeconomics and health; sleep, somatoform disorders, depression, trauma, and resilience; and bio psychosocial medicine of the future. In light of today's health care uncertainties, it behooves us to gather all the knowledge we can, to try to improve and protect our health as well as our environment. Fee: none.
