Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center • 28 S Linn St Iowa CityIA  52240 Organized by Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center

About this event

Description

Food, Science, and the Human BodyTuesdays, Nov 9 - Mar. 1, 2-4 PM Meets on zoom Facilitator: Michelle Buman

What we eat is central to our daily lives—now, as well as in our past. People have always been intricately tethered to the food that they eat. Subsistence has been linked with not only watershed moments in human evolution, such as brain expansion and cooperation, but also pivotal points in world history. Increasingly, we are learning that what we eat affects our bodies, in both positive and negative ways, and is linked with our health, culture, identity, and even our genes. In this broad-sweeping video lecture series we will take a look at the history and biology of human nutrition, from the Paleolithic period to the 21st century. No class on Nov 23.
Fee: none.
