Our Chess Intermediate classes are designed to advance students' skills and strategies. Students will be grouped by skill level for personalized instruction and optimal learning. Key Skills Covered: Phases of a chess game: opening, middlegame, endgame Advanced tactics: pins, forks, skewers, double attacks, overloading, deflection Pawn structure and piece development Checkmating patterns and defenses Game mechanics: castling, en passant, pawn promotion Positional play: controlling key squares, open files, diagonals Endgame techniques: opposition, zugzwang, critical squares Studying famous chess matches Game analysis and notation Classes feature board demonstrations, practical interactions, and matches under the instructor's guidance. Students will be invited to participate in chess tournaments. Prerequisites: Familiarity with basic chess moves and rules, including check, stalemate, checkmate, castling, and basic principles (CPR) and tactics.
