This event has ended.

About this event

Developed around British Artists’ use and exploration of watercolor techniques to portray flowers, gardens, and weather effects on the landscape and at sea, this class series offers beginners basic brush handling and color mixing techniques, and intermediate students a chance to expand their knowledge of composition, design, and expressive interpretation. Part 2 - In this four week class we continue the look at British artists with the comparison and contrast of John Constable and JMW Turner. Both painters are of the Romantic period who interpret pastoral scenes of countryside and capture the ‘sublime’ of both nature, weather, and industrialization. We’ll employ Turner’s techniques for painting sunsets, ships at sea, architectural ruins, and practice ‘Constable’ clouds with atmospheric expression for landscapes. Participants may bring their own photos or printouts of sunsets, sailing ships at sea, modern industrialization, and a landscape with clouds, or use images provided by the instructor as reference from which to paint. Ages 18 + 4 Classes COVID PROTOCOLS are in effect at the Visual Arts Center including wearing a face covering while inside the building, unless actively eating or drinking.
