Notes:This tournament will run the same "Compass Draw" format as a Sweet 16, but not limited to the top 16 players who enter. The 1st 16 who enter into an age group will be in the draw. Players will get to play multiple rounds, up to 4 matches. Once the 16 player field is full, others will be placed on the waiting list and allowed to enter if we have others who drop out. This will be a great event for those of you looking to get a bunch of match play.
1. “Southwest Section Dress Code”.
All players are required to wear appropriate tennis attire. Cut off shorts, bare midriffs, and compression shorts alone are not allowed. Shirts should not reference sex, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
2. “Parent/Player Contact Info”
Tournament directors do not have access to phone numbers and email addresses of the tournament participants UNLESS the player re-enters their contact information at time of event registration. This means that if a player does not enter their phone and email information each time they register for a tournament, the tournament director will not be able contact them for any reason, including withdrawals, defaults, byes, rain delays, etc. Your cooperation will ensure that tournaments can continue to communicate necessary information to you. Thank you
3. “Overrule Policy”
ONCE A PLAYER HAS BEEN OVERRULED A SECOND TIME, THEY WILL BE CAUTIONED THAT AFTER ANOTHER
OVERRULE THEY WILL BE PENALIZED FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT UNDER THE POINT PETALTY SYSTEM.
4. “Withdrawal Policy”
If a player withdraws or defaults (for reason other than illness or injury) from any sanctioned tournament in the
Southwest Section (L3-L6), after entries close, that player will be assessed 4 suspension points unless medical documentation of the injury or illness is provided to the Tournament Director AND Southwest Section Junior Player Development Manager within 48 hours after the completion of the tournament.
"Player shall not enter tournament player cannot finish. Player shall not enter a tournament (including mandatory consolation) knowing the player will be unable to finish." p119 Friend at Court
In theory, the Junior Competition Committee feels that it is important to adopt and strongly enforce National’s ruling on the Suspension Point System. In recent years, several players have been pulling out of tournaments, especially L3-5 events, on the final day of competition or once a player is in the back draw.
5. “Electronic Wearables”
The use of smart watches or any electronic device that can receive electronic communication, must be in off mode and in bag unless on break between 2nd and 3rd set.
6. “Match Formats”
All Divisions Main Draw & Consolation -- Best 2 out of 3 sets, with a 10 Point Match Tiebreak in Lieu of a 3rd set. The 7 pt tie breaker will be used in all sets tied 6 - 6.
7. “Selection Process”
All players that enter by the deadline will be placed in the draw.
Awards will be given to 1st place, 2nd place and the consolation winner in each draw. Round robin draws will only have an award for the winning player.
All matches are scheduled to be at Paseo Racquet Center, 6268 West Thunderbird Road. In the event of a very large draw, matches may be scheduled at Ironwood High School. Ironwood High School is ½ mile south of Paseo Racquet Center, 6051 West Sweetwater Avenue.
