The Rachel Cooke Memorial Run (RCMR) is being organized in remembrance of the 15th anniversary of Rachel's disappearance. Rachel's mother, Janet, has requested that we assist in organizing the race to aid in generating awareness for the investigation, and as a reminder to the running community to always be aware of your surroundings while running. All funds raised during the race (after the payment of permitting fees, t-shirt costs, medal and award costs, and timing/infrastructure costs) will be donated, through our non-profit partner (The Georgetown Running Club), to the Central Texas Chapter of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Event details and schedule
Friday, January 6th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rentsch Brewery
located at 2500 NE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626
Additionally, packet pick will also be available on the morning of the race from 7:00 AM until 7:45 AM.
Rentsch Brewery will also be holding an event after the race and a portion of their sales will be donated to the Central Texas Chapter of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, our benefitting charity for this race.
The race will start on the granite trail at E Morrow Street, on the north side of Morrow. There will not be a street crossing here, as the race will begin entirely on the north side of Morrow and continue east and turn north on the granite, going in a counter-clockwise rotation around the granite trail at San Gabriel Park.
Runners will continue counter-clockwise around the granite trail crossing E. Morrow Street just east of Chamber Way at the designated crossing area. They will continue on the granite path and cross Lower Park Road at the designated crossing area. We will have volunteers in reflective vests manning the street crossings. To get beyond both street crossings is one mile from the start, the bulk of runners will be through this within 15 minutes after the start of the race.
Once runners cross Lower Park Road, they will follow the granite to the T intersection and turn to the west (right) and go onto Morrow Trail. They will follow this concrete trail for one mile, going to Rivery Park where they will turn around by circling the pond at Rivery Park. They will then run one mile back down the trail to the start of the Morrow Trail, where the Morrow Trail comes back to the San Gabriel Trail. This will be the FINISH line for the race.
