What's Included

Students begin to explore the world of storytelling, movement, vocalization and character development with an emphasis on monologues and scene work. Exercises will help to develop general public speaking and confidence. Class will be performance based and students will have opportunities to present both monologues and scene work for families and friends during the course. Full year students will leave audition ready. Skills learned: projection, diction, breath support, setting, physicality, basic monologue technique, scene work, stage directions, characterization, given circumstances, point of view, emotions, teamwork, and memorization techniques. Fall semester: September 14 - December 13 (performance) Spring semester: January 11 - May 9 (performance)

About This Organizer

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Department is dedicated to training young artists and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performance opportunities. 

 

Our mission is to foster a lifelong appreciation of live theatre by providing a safe and healthy environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self-confidence and collaboration and leadership skills through the performing arts.

 

During the academic year we offer after school and evening classes in acting, dance, and vocals. Our Education Productions offer performance opportunities to those students who are ready to put their skills to work. Productions rehearse weekends and culimate in public performaces on one of our Palace stages. 

 

When school is out, our curtain goes up! We offer School Day Out Camps and a Spring Break Camps, giving students an abreviated, yet rich emersion into theatre arts. 

 

During the summer, we offer multiple Theatre Camps where every young artist is cast in an amazing show! Performers are split into groups by age: ages 7-9, 10-12, and teenagers. All campers attend daily class in acting, vocals, dance, stagecraft, amung others. Each camp culminates in a public performance for family and friends.
