Violin Adventures is an enriching and exciting addition to private violin lessons for young students, who take their skills from the private lesson studio to the classroom and have fun playing both review and new pieces as a group. Review pieces from the Suzuki method will form the core of the class repertoire, and exercises and scales will be presented in a dynamic and collaborative way to reinforce the development of a healthy technical foundation. Playing in a group will create a more developed ear, stronger musicianship, and lead to an invaluable community experience for young violinists. Ensemble playing as part of a violin group is a valuable experience that prepares students for later experiences in orchestra and chamber music. Parents are encouraged to observe the class, and materials to support the home practice will also be provided for them!
Each semester, the curriculum is designed to complement the private lessons. It is not a continuous curriculum with clearly defined levels. Students will be divided into two groups based on their playing ability and progress in their private lessons. Students may be in the same group for multiple semesters or years, depending on their individual pace of learning. Group placements are made based on technical skill, repertoire learned, maturity level and in consultation with the private teacher.
