Journey Ireland is a modern-day pilgrimage, both external and internal. In four short days we will touch, taste, see, and feel the fascinating historical roots of the Celtic church, and the rich and textured landscape that is Ireland: city, mountain, valley, and sea. While sojourning through southeast Ireland, we will have times of guided reflection and for sharing (or wondering) what God has been doing in and around each of us while studying abroad. While walking through ancient holy places, we will learn and try out elements of ancient Celtic monasticism. And, of course, amazing Irish food, music, and dancing are givens. Start your Journey from your doorstep: We encourage you to get to Ireland as creatively and cheaply as possible. Meet interesting people, explore the cities and countryside, and document your route with photos along the way. We’ll start our time together sharing stories from the road and then create our own. Anyone who is open to experiencing God, regardless of religious affiliation or belief, can have an authentic, rich encounter with the Divine. Students will learn from the earliest Christian manuscripts, ancient Celtic practices of prayer and reflection, as well as from the stunning beauty of the land, and our community experience, led by the Spirit in creative, perhaps unanticipated ways.
