Healthy Schools Campaign - The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon Team 2007
Racing for School Health and Wellness

Peter Sagal, Honorary Team Captain

Congratulations to our LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon runners who battled record high temperatures to compete in the race on October 7, 2007. As a team, they raised approximately $30,000!

We are now accepting applications for charity runner bibs for the 2008 Boston Marathon and the 2008 ING New York City Marathon (no lottery or qualifying times needed). To learn more about participating in these marathons or another event on behalf of Healthy Schools Campaign, please call 312-419-1810 or email cheryl@healthyschoolscampaign.org

You know him as the quick-witted host of NPR’s humorous weekly news quiz show, Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! What you may not know is that Peter Sagal is an accomplished marathon runner (Chicago 2005, 2006, 2007 Boston 2007.) Peter Sagal, Honorary Team Captain of Healthy Schools Campaign's Marathon Team Program, invites you to help support our organization, which advocates for programs and policies that create healthy school environments.

“I started running seriously as a mid-life crisis,” says Sagal, a father of three young girls. “And we just can’t afford to wait until our kids turn forty before they get inspired to exercise. There are so many artificial amusements for children these days, which distract them from what they would naturally love, namely, running around like maniacs. I’m happy to help bring the message to kids and schools that a little maniacal running around is a great thing.”

A vibrant and growing not-for-profit organization, Healthy Schools Campaign’s two primary focus areas are school environmental health and wellness. Healthy Schools Campaign’s programs address the growing problems of obesity and asthma among schoolchildren, particularly in low-income and minority communities. Our programs are making a difference in Chicago, throughout Illinois, and across the country.

Healthy Schools Campaign team members agree to raise money on behalf of Healthy Schools Campaign. Runners will receive a Healthy Schools Campaign performance singlet, discounts on training programs, regular training and fundraising tips, a personal fundraising web page, race day support, and other benefits. To learn more about participating in a marathon or another event on behalf of Healthy Schools Campaign, please call 312-419-1810 or email cheryl@healthyschoolscampaign.org

Healthy Schools Campaign thanks School Health Corporation for its generous support of our marathon team.
