The Wu Family Academy’s Detroit Teacher's Orchestra (DTO) is an opportunity for the region's private and public music teachers to gather, perform, network and socialize with other teachers and adult learners from the area. The DTO is free to any music teacher interested in participating. The DTO performances will coincide with the Detroit Community Orchestra (DCO), a string orchestra dedicated to providing a safe and encouraging space for adults to continue playing their instrument. Currently only open to violins, violas, cellos and basses, the DCO encourages you to dust off your fiddle and pick up right where you left off, rehearsing with friends and play concerts while interacting and performing with DSO musicians! The DCO is open to most playing levels, regardless of however long it’s been since you last picked up your instrument. A playing experience of at least 2-5 years is recommended. DCO rehearsals are on Tuesday nights from 7-9pm beginning on October 11, 2016. DTO members are welcome to sit in any DCO rehearsal. Visit www.dso.org/wfa to download the complete 2016-2017 DCO Calendar.
