This week-long backcountry trail hiking excursion will provide participants unique opportunities to challenge themselves, explore new passions, and develop the skills and confidence to participate in lifelong outdoor pursuits. Students will be transported to the Squamish territory’s majestic mountains, where they will be trekking to Watersprite Lake. This crystal blue lake is surrounded by mountains and forests, boasting a myriad of hiking trails and stunning views. Along with developing outdoor skills, the trip will include intentional programming designed to foster teamwork, interpersonal skills, and the development of life-long friendships. Participants will challenge themselves in a beautiful setting garnering a greater love and appreciation for the natural world. *No prior hiking or camping experience is required. Participants are required to carry their gear and be capable of hiking 5-10 km/day. Backpacks, tents, and food will be provided. Participants will be required to bring a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, appropriate clothing, and hiking boots. *Please note that this trip is open to Southpointe students ONLY and can be used as a qualifying journey for the bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh program.
