6 of America's Best Descents

Bogus Basin, Idaho
For sheer variety, this curvy descent (pictured) is hard to beat. Just north of Boise, climb 15 miles up North Bogus Basin Road. At the "Welcome to Bogus Basin" sign, turn around and prepare for a 3,429-foot drop with everything from sweeping turns to gentle bends to sharp switchbacks.

Ride America's Best New Trails

Whiteface Mountain, New York
Near Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains, Whiteface tops out at 4,867 feet. Climb the 5 miles to the top, pause to enjoy a panorama of the storied High Peaks region, then plummet down grades that average 8 to 10 percent. Long, straight sections of the road let you gather speed before you swoosh through the next wide turn.
