Introduced by John Hopkins University, Meatless Monday is designed to reduce the consumption of saturated fats and thus reduce cholesterol and lower the risk of heart disease and obesity. According to researchers, replacing meat with fish, pasta and vegetables one day a week can reduce consumption of saturated fats by at least 15 percent.
