Heart of the Valley Runners guides you in nutrition, hydration and gear selection for trail runs in natural areas. You will become more confident in navigating trails while improving fitness on your own or with others. By class end you should complete a 5-to-6-mile trail at correct pace with personalized training goals. Ages 12-14 may register with a participating adult -- call 541-766-6918. You will receive an email and syllabus with trail locations and what to expect in terms of COVID precautions after you sign up. (Mitigating COVID-19 precautions include wearing a mask, temperature and COVID screening questions at check in, physical distancing on trails, and an emergency plan in case of exposure.)
NOTE the average, expected minimum pace in this class is a 13-14 minute mile. This is faster than a walking pace most of the time, therefore the class is NOT designed for hikers or walkers who don't want to run.
