Description

Young children often learn best when they are playing. Some people forget this fact as they grow up. Through a series of non-competitive games and exercises, this class will reawaken your playful spirit and stimulate your imagination as you play. The class is open to all.

The class will meet for 8 sessions over a two week period, Monday through Thursday. Each session will focus on one or two games/activities.

Examples of the Games/Activities:

LIES LIKE TRUTH - Each student is given a small object. The students are given a few minutes to create a brief story suggested by the object. The story can be true or it can be falses. The goal is to convince the rest of the students the story is TRUE.

THE MUSIC THAT MAKES ME MOVE - A short piece of music is played. While it plays, the students are asked to move, not dance, to what they hear. The goal of the game is to move and not think about it.

SIX AGAIN - The students are guided through a series of relaxation exercises. Once relaxed, they are asked to remember/recall what they were like at age six. Each student introduce themselves and to tell something about them. Then they will draw a picture in the style of a six year old. The exercise is not therapy. The goal is to get you in touch with the child still inside.

HAIKU CELEBRATION - Each student is given a haiku. After a time to prepare, the students show the essence to the poem through movement.

A CORVALLIS FIELD TRIP - We?ll walk around downtown Corvallis to discover the sights and sound we miss during our busy lives.

We will probably play some tried and true theatre games like: Sound and Motion, Silent Movie Pie Fight, Do A Verb, Create An Object and Sports Drama.
