Coronado's 59th Annual July 4th Rough Water swim has a great history and is a fun way to start the summer ocean swim challenges. Swimmers of all ages and abilities compete in a variety of distances. All participants (early sign-up required) receive t-shirts, pins, swim caps. Fantastic way to start the July 4th holiday! Check in starts at 7:30am on July 4th. Early check in on July 3, 3-5pm at BBMAC pool 800 sixth street Coronado High school pool.
Each year participants come from all over the world to challenge themselves in this annual event. Event details and schedule
Take I-5to the Coronado Bridge.The bridge exits onto 3rd Avenue. Continue on 3rd Avenue and turn left on Alameda Blvd (Just before the North Island Naval base entrance). When Alameda ends, turn left onto Ocean Blvd. Registration is at the foot of the stairs along path to main lifeguard tower. Come early as parking can be a challenge.
All swimmers under 18 years old must be USAS swimmers and/or USA Water polo members and must preregister by 7/3/2017. 12 year olds and under must have their coach's written approval for entry into the Youth half-mile or Youth mile events.
Awards will be issued as follows:
- First Overall Male and Female Finishers (1 Mile)
- 1st- 3rd Male and Female for categories below:
- 250 Yard swim (12U)
- Youth Half mile swim (17U)
- Youth Mile swim (17U)
- Open Mile swim: 18-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69, 70+, and Active Military Challenge
Suits and Gear:
Swimmers may wear wetsuits in accordance with USA Triathlon Guidlines any participants wearing >5mm wet siuts in the mile will not be eligible for awards. No fins,snorkels, paddles or other equipment allowed.
Only preregistered swimmers are guaranteed custom event t-shirts, participation medals, unique swim caps, and participation items.
