About This Activity

Bweeng Trail Blazers in association with the Bweeng Community centre are organising a fun run & walk on May 8th.  Following on from the huge success of 2015 we have improved our event this year by adding chip timing, increasing the prize money and amazingly still keeping our charge at the 2015 price.

There are a number of options available on the day with a 5k walk, 5k run, 10k walk and a 10k run. Entry fee for the 5k and 10k run is €10 and the walk is €5.

There will be prizes in both men’s and women’s categories as follows.

10K – 1st = 100euro.

10k – 2nd = 60euro.

10k – 3rd = Sports Gift.

1st Over 50s men and women. €25 voucher
1st Over 60s men and women. €25 euro voucher
Juvenile prize also.

5k – 1st = 50euro.

5k – 2nd = 30euro.

5k – 3rd = Sports gift

Event details and schedule

Both courses are very flat and below you can find details and Maps on the course. A great day is guaranteed with great facilities at race HQ such as a Playground for kids and plenty of refreshments after the race.

The Bweeng 5K & 10k routes both start 500mtrs from Race headquarters at the Bweeng Community Centre on the Gloundine Road. From the starting point the runners will head back in the direction of the community centre and turn left into the community centre and complete one lap in a clockwise direction around the community park. On completing this they will be at the 1.2km mark. On exiting they turn left and head to Bweeng Crossroads where they will turn left again onto the Lombardstown Road. At roughly the 3k mark the course splits with the 5k runners turning back on the same road and heading for the finish and the 10k runners continuing on the same road.

For the 10K route the runners continue to follow the Lombardstown road all the way to Sean Ogs Cross (5.6K) where they will now turn left. Up until now this has been a relatively flat and downhill course. The participants now turn left and begin the swing back towards Bweeng, there are some slight pulls along the next 2km but nothing to testing, there will be a water station just after the 7k mark. At the 8.4km mark the 10k runners rejoin the road where they originally split from the 5k group and have an easy finish just short of the Bweeng Crossroads which is less than 500mtrs away from Race HQ.
