Participants entering this course must have a Level 2 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 2. The objective of Level 3 are for participants to learn the survival float, the elementary backstroke and to coordinate the front crawl. They are introduced to the scissor kick and the dolphin kick and build on the fundamentals of treading water. Participants also learn rules for headfirst entries and begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from the side of the pool (if the water is 9 feet deep or deeper).
Level 3 is a transition level which will introduce a lot of skills relating to stroke development. This can be a difficult level for some students to pass right away. It will take a lot of practice and skill development to meet the requirements to pass this level. Keep encouraging your child to practice, practice, and practice.
We will hold lessons no matter the weather (the pool is heated) unless it is storming and raining too hard to see the bottom. If we do need to cancel the lesson, we will make it up that following Friday. We will only make up one lesson per week, if necessary. Please note we will not be calling participants. Please call the cancellation Hotline at 248-1763 if the weather is questionable.
Students should have successfully completed or be able to perform the skills in the preceding level/course. If undecided, ask our front desk staff to help you determine the appropriate level.
PARENTS: Please keep your child's end of lesson reports to guide you for your next swim lesson enrollment.
