What's Included

Blender is a free and open-source 3D modeling program. While it is mainly designed for graphics and animation, it is also good for creating and refining models for 3D printing and CNC. But just because you can draw it, does not mean it will print well. We will cover how to prepare your model for digital fabrication. In this class, we will overview: the Blender interface, importing/exporting STL files, ◦ Boolean operations, and detecting manifold errors. You will need: your laptop with Blender installed and ready to go (visit, and a mouse is recommend (you will likely not enjoy your experience trying to manipulate models with just your laptop touchpad). You may use a 3D model of your own that you want to work on (OBJ or STL), but the instructor will have sample STL files for you to work with if you prefer. Decent computer literacy is expected, but no Blender experience is needed.
