What's Included

Instructor: Don Sell | Learn how to prepare rough sawn wood for use in your woodworking projects. Using rough sawn wood is both economical and fun. I recently priced a 1x6x8 piece of red oak from a Big Box store for $24.72. A piece of 1x6x8 rough sawn Red Oak purchased from a local sawmill would cost about $8.80. As you can see there is substantial savings to be had by doing it yourself. This class will cover selecting rough sawn wood, how it is priced, and where to find it. Participants will learn how to do a straight line rip and use a jointer to true two of the sides. Additionally participants will then use the surface planer mill the wood to the desired thickness. Students will prepare a 1x6x8 piece of poplar for their future use. Using rough sawn wood can be a way to use wood that you cannot get or afford from a big box store.
