During the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago, the ITU Women’s Committee will be hosting a luncheon where attendees can learn and discuss the diversity in our sport and the positive impact that sport gives women to make a change.
On this occasion we welcome Donna de Varona as our keynote speaker who will be joined by other fabulous guest speakers.

The ITU Women's Committee is pleased to announce Donna de Varona as the luncheon keynote speaker
Donna de Varona, President of DAMAR Inc. a sports marketing, production and consulting company is a double Olympic gold medalist and former world record holder in swimming. By the time de Varona retired from her sport at age 17 she had established over 18 world records and fastest times, competed in two Olympics, the first as a young 13 year old world record holder and was voted the most outstanding female athlete in the world in 1964-5.
Internationally, de Varona is also recognized for her work as an Emmy award winning news and sports journalist having covered some 17 Olympic Games. In 1999 de Varona served as Chairman of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the most successful women's sporting event of that time.
She continues to work with many NGO’s including Prince Feisal’s Generations for Peace Foundation, Prince Albert’s Peace and Sport NGO and is currently on the Executive Board of the LA2015 Special Olympics Global Games Organizing Committee. This year she served as the lead advisor in creating the International Women Athletes Business Network.
In the United States de Varona has served on the United States Olympic Committee Board and Foundation; the United States Soccer Foundation; the International Special Olympics Executive Board and is an Advisor to the U.S. Department of State Empowering Women through sport program.
Donna de Varona’s relentless work on behalf of athletes as a Presidential appointee and US Senate Consultant through her focus on title IX and the Ted Stevens Olympic and Paralympic Sports Act has profoundly changed both the educational and athletic landscape for females around the globe. Additionally, as the founding President of the Women's Sports Foundation the impact of her work continues to this day. Currently she is the lead advisor to the EY Women's athletes network, a global initiative to help women athletes transition from competitive sport to other professions.
She is a member of the Seneca Falls Women's Hall of Fame, the USOC Hall of Fame and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
She has earned 5 honorary doctorates and is a graduate of UCLA..
Individual tickets will be set at $30 per person. Tables of 8 seats are also available for $240. Tickets will be available until September 15, 2015.
No refunds will be available after September 10, 2015.
Lunch will include a salad, vegetarian lasagna and carrot cake.
Please be aware that casual attire is expected for this event.
