Join Kent County for a fun-filled weekend of family friendly events from Friday, September 7 through Sunday, September 9! On Friday evening, after strolling through downtown Chestertown’s shops and Fountain Park for the First Friday festivities, make way to the ceremonial purple lighting of the historic Kent County Courthouse and other prominent buildings around Kent County to kick off Kent Goes Purple. The Chestertown Jazz Festival continues through Saturday in Wilmer Park. Then get ready for colorful fun on Sunday morning for the inaugural Kent Goes Purple 5K Color Fun Run, which begins and ends in Wilmer Park on the banks of the beautiful Chester River.
Kent Goes Purple, a component fund of the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, is a county-wide substance abuse awareness initiative that is being led by the Kent County Sheriff's Office and Chestertown Rotary Club to engage our community and youth to stand up against substance abuse. Proceeds from the 5K Color Fun Run will help support the programs and events developed to drive this message home.
