Find a new vantage point when you explore Picacho Peak State Park. A four-mile roundtrip trek, the Sonoran Desert trail is strenuous (steel cables and planks are in place for the steepest parts), but worth the dazzling 360-degree views of the summit. Transportation is provided and departs from the EEC.
Activity Level: Extremely Difficult / Length: 4 miles | Elevation Change: 3,760 ft.
These trails are very steep!
Participants should be prepared with at least 3 liters of water, snacks, weather appropriate clothing, and trekking poles if preferred.
The top portion of this hike requires climbing with the assistance of cables. Gloves are recommended for those who plan to attempt hiking to the summit.
Getting to the top safely requires strength, cardio endurance, and trustworthy balance. For everyone's safety, there will be a halfway point at witch an easier alternate route will be available for members of the group who should not attempt the summit. This alternate route is also very cool and is rated Moderate/Difficult.
