What's Included

Ready to move on to more advanced weaving? If you've taken any of the begginer Weaving courses at TAC, or have prior experience dressing looms and pattern reading, this class is perfect for you! Students will focus on the double weave technique, which allows you to weave two layers simultaneously, and exceed the weaving width of your loom, create pockets, etc. Pre-Requisite: Weaving 101 or equivalent experience Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime! All materials for sample making and learning the technique are included. Any additional materials will need to be supplied by the student based on their vision. Students have access to Open Studio time for free for the duration of the class, to put their new knowledge to practice.

About This Organizer

Textile Arts Center aspires to unify and empower the textile community, and advocate for the handmade.

Textile Arts Center (TAC) is a NYC-based resource facility dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of textiles through creative educational programs for children and adults. At TAC, we aspire to unify the textile community and advocate for the handmade by providing accessible, skills-based classes that reinvigorate engagement with traditional crafts. Techniques like weaving, sewing, and dyeing are practical, connective, and process-driven -- common denominators for designers, artists, and creative practitioners around the world. Because these activities are so widely used, they help to foster community and bring creativity back into our daily lives. They are part of our collective history and vital to our ongoing expressions of design, art, and culture.
