About this event

Holy creative outlet, Batman! You mean comics aren’t just for kids??? Students in this class will experience the best of all that comics have to offer – as a creative, silly, and experimental storytelling medium as well as an artistic craft with its own history, vocabulary, and traditions. The course will take students on a guided tour of some of the foundational elements of comics – from character design and figure drawing to storyboarding, text, motion, layout, and timing. Students will engage in playful warmup exercises to generate ideas and stretch their creative muscles; learn about the process of comics-making from idea to execution (and how they might fit this process to their own purposes); and practice the skills introduced in class in short comics assignments designed to work for students of any skill level. Whether comedic or dramatic, fictional or true-to-life, poetic or action-driven, the aim of this class is for students to learn the skills to tell their stories, their way. *No prior drawing or comics-making experience required!* No Class 2/22
