Join us for a workshop inspired by giraffes and Brookfield Zoo’s HABITAT AFRICA to learn practical, engaging strategies to implement problem-based learning in your classroom. Problem-based learning is an engaging, student-centered approach to learning that challenges students to explore, think critically, and problem-solve as they work together to find solutions to “real-life” issues. The workshop will share practical tools and resources to support questioning, organization, student planning, problem-solving, and reflection. Learn about giraffes, conservation and nature as we model "start to finish" strategies that support problem-based learning in all subject areas. This class is targeted to teachers in grades 4-8. High School educators are welcome, as content can be adapted for higher grade levels. 3.5 professional development hours are available for participants who provide their IEIN number and meet attendance requirements. Professional development credit will be documented and administered on the ISBE PD+ site.
