We're sorry, but this lesson is over. The last meeting was Thursday, August 29, 2019.
BSAC offers the American Red Cross Blended Learning Lifeguard Certification class. Blended learning means that they will utilize the ARC learning center to help facilitate the lifeguard course. Students will attend the pre requisite swim test which includes a 300 yard swim test of freestyle (crawl stroke) and breast stroke. No swimming instruction will be given. Students who want to become a lifeguard should already know how to swim. The Lifeguard certification course Includes books (which can be borrowed and returned), instruction, resuscitation mask (which needs to be purchased by the student), use of equipment, Red Cross fees, and facility fees. After the swim test the students will receive the internet link to the ARC website. They will have one week to complete the required computer work. The class will reconvene and complete the hands on portion CPR, first aid and water skills testing. Class time will be Friday, February 28, March 1 & 2.
You must attend all classes throughout this period. The cost of the course is $199 which includes instruction, Red Cross fees, facility fee, and Red Cross Equipment fees. You will need to purchase a resuscitation mask during the course, which will be needed for the CPR portion. This mask is available at the Member Services Desk. If training is needed for water park, water front, or shallow water attendant instruction, please speak to the Aquatics Director as additional fees may apply.
**THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, AND PAYMENT MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE**.
You MUST be 15 years of age by the end of the course, attend EVERY CLASS, and pass the FINAL EXAM to be certified. There will be no makeup classes. You must be PROMPT in attending all classes.
**The prerequisite swim test will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 11:0 am. You are required to swim 300 yards for lifeguarding and 500 yards for water park and waterfront courses.
