Join certified kayak instructors and naturalists for a leisurely paddle at the newly designated Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary - home to osprey, eagles, and a ghost fleet of over 100 World War I era wooden steamships. We'll paddle for two-four hours on slow-moving water. You should be comfortable in a kayak, proficient at basic strokes, and comfortable paddling flat water for a few hours at a time. This is not an instructional course. The trip will also include a stop at the National Colonial Farm at Piscataway Park, with its early colonial style farmsteads, garden, and livestock, plus a view across the river to Mount Vernon. Fee covers kayak, paddle, PFD, a dry bag, and round-trip transportation from Black Hill Regional Park. Don't forget to pack your lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. FOBH $75
This is not an instructional course, so if you've never paddled, please try Beginning Recreational Kayaking and Beyond the Basics Parts 1 and 2 courses first.
