In the class we will work with non-toxic Akua water based inks. We will cover a wide range of of monotype processes that include the additive and subtractive technique, developing the "ghost" image and multiple plate printing. Also, we will explore combining the monotype with collage and chine colle' to extend the image into mixed media. The emphasis will be an exploratory process where intuition is a guide and a key ingredient is the artist as inventor. Saturdays Oct 22, 29 10am-4pm $45 Materials Fee payable to the teacher on the first day of class Instructor bio: Larry Stefl has his MFA from the University of California at Berkeley and has been an art instructor at Laney College, Berkeley City College and Berkeley Unified School District. His art in sculpture, printmaking, mixed media and drawing has been shown nationally and internationally. Larry has studied Innovative Printmaking at the Printmaking Center and Making Art Safely Workshops in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Kala Institute in Berkeley and Electric Works in San Francisco. He serves on the Board of Directors at the Berkeley Art Center.
