This is the 8th year of Energia24. But 2017 is somewhat different in that the Open Race will sit alongside the World Championships. it welcomes runners from around the globe but is limited to 100 places. For those who are eligible it incorporates the Irish National Championships. There is a T-shirt,medal and a special jacket for anyone who goes beyond 100 miles. This summer(July 1/2) it again comes from Victoria Park on a 1.7km traffic-free course in the east of Belfast,Northern Ireland. Event details and schedule
The Energia24 Open Race r starts at noon on Sat,July 1 in Victoria Park. Registration is on Friday(June 30) in Queen's Elms Village,Malone Road or on the day from 9am in Victoria Park . Around the 1.7K course, there is a tented village, a massage,physio and first-aid marquee, feed station tables, a water station,chemical toilets and a monitor with distance updates from the chip timing. There are also some very enthusiastic volunteers to keep you going. For families pitching their tents, there are also U10s and U5s races at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. No cars will be allowed in the park. Access is via the Airport Road where there will be car-parking and thence over the Sam Thompson bridge. There is aslo access from Sydenham station; and it is possible to walk through from the George Best Belfast City Airport.
