This is the 7th year of Energia24. it is The National Championship but welcomes runners from around the globe. The winner is the man and woman who goes the furthest in a 24-hour period. There is a special jacket for anyone who goes beyond 100 miles. This summer(June 25/26) it comes from Victoria Park on a 1.7km traffic-free course in the east of Belfast,Northern Ireland. There is a lso a 12-hour race, a 100kms and a 24-hour team relay(teams of 4 including at least 1 woman each doing 3 stints of 2 hours). More information at the Energia24 Facebook page.
Event details and schedule
The Energia Belfast 24 Hour race starts at noon on Sat,June 25 in Victoria Park. It follows the Parkrun which starts at 9.30am. Registration is from 9am. 12-hour entrants can either start at noon or at midnight. Around the 1.7K course, there is a tented village, a massage,physio and first-aid marquee, feed station tables, a small kitchen area, a water station,chemical toilets and a monitor with distance updates from the chip timing. There are also some very enthusiastic volunteers to keep you going. For families pitching their tents, there are also U10s and U5s races at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
