Explore architecture! Experience the design process in this hands-on maker workshop as we imagine, plan, and build original spaces from the architect’s point of view. Whether it’s a home for a human, a secret hideout for a mythical creature or a shelter for a favorite pet, your design inspiration will be explored through the interactive process of character creation, storytelling and model making. Learn decision-making strategies, complex problem solving and critical thinking methods through authentic, reality-based projects that foster independent thinking, self-directed learning, exploration, iteration and creativity. Please note: First grade students will be picked up by Fifi Henderson or another staff member from their homeroom class. All other grades will be dismissed from their homeroom class and will come to our assigned classroom. At the end of our class at 4:30, we will dismiss students from our room where parents will be waiting outside. Kids in grades 3-5 can be released to walk home if that is the plan. If your child is going to another after school program (Extend A Care in the cafeteria, Creative Action in the green portable by the library/playground or Austin Sports Academy the blacktop/basketball court), Fifi or another staff member will escort them to that program location. Please email Fifi at firstname.lastname@example.org directly to let her know that your child is to go to another program.
