During the Knightline Summer Dance Camp, students will be divided by grade (1-2, 3-4, 5-6) and will learn jazz, pom and dance/drill team fundamentals. Each session will include exercises to improve flexibility and technique. Students will learn fun choreography and will end the camp with a showcase for family and friends on Thursday at 3:00pm in the Event Center! Denise James is the Dance and Knightline Director at Regents. She has an expansive background as a classically trained, professional dancer with many programs including The Baton Rouge Ballet Theater/The Dancer’s Workshop, New York’s Eglevsky Ballet, and North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition to growing up in the theater and performing in numerous ballets, Denise also pursued jazz and contemporary dance. She was a member of the LSU Golden Girls, where she served as Captain and Choreographer both her Junior and Senior years. She also worked for NCA/NDA on the elite national College dance camp circuit as a coach, choreographer and adjudicator throughout the US. Denise was then one of seven nationally selected for the Tremaine Dance Center scholarship program in Los Angeles, CA where she trained and performed. From there she went on to serve as the Dance and Drill Team Director and cheer coach for Memorial High School in Houston, Texas. Her dance career then took her to New York City where she continued to train, perform, choreograph and teach dance to students of all ages.
