The swim season runs from October 22 - February 7. All practices are at Georgia Tech Practice Schedule Please note, slight alterations may be needed as dictated by Georgia Tech availability. Monday and Wednesday: Practice until 5:30. *Dryland workout at Howard until 3:30. In water practice from 4:30-5:30. Tuesday and Thursday: 3:30-5:15 Swimmer Evaluations All swimmers will be evaluated on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 3:30-4:45 and Thursday Oct. 24 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Swimmers must be picked up at 5:00 p.m. After swimmers are evaluated on their abilities to meet the requirements to join the team, the coaches will reach out to swimmers and families to share feedback, suggestions, and decisions regarding swim team membership. In order to make an informed decision before committing to swim team, we encourage swimmers and families to consider the following: Swim Ability: The expectations for swimming abilities for varsity and middle school are outlined in more detail below. We cannot offer swim lessons to beginner swimmers. Transportation: Swimmers will board a bus from Howard and travel to the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center for practice. The bus will not return to campus after practice and all swimmers must be picked up on time from Georgia Tech at the end of practice. Middle School Requirements and Commitment In order to participate on the swim team, middle school swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards without stopping in at least one of the four competitive strokes (freestyle with side breathing, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). In addition, middle school swimmers must be able to make it through a basic swim practice three times a week. Finally, middle school swimmers will be expected to participate in all meets. Varsity Requirements and Commitment Varsity swimmers must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping in at least two of the four competitive strokes.
