Field Trip Atlanta, Ga-Montgomery, Al.
Put on your Fun Weird Science Open Road Journeys t-shirt and hop on board our rolling learning laboratory as we travel to the Hyundai Plant in Montgomery, Alabama to witness the robotic processes involved in car manufacturing. Our journey will take us through Tuskegee, Alabama where we will discuss the Tuskegee Study and pay homage to Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver for lifting the veil of ignorance. Our next stop takes us to the beautiful campus of Alabama State University, the Alma Mater of Fun Weird Science, where students will tour the campus and learn about majors of study and the demands of college life. Next, we will venture into downtown Montgomery, where we will partake in a walking civil rights tour and stand at the spot where Rosa Parks boarded the bus on that history-changing day! Then we will stand on the steps of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church where Dr. King pastored within a rocks throw of the state capital. The buildings are so close in proximity but were worlds apart in ideology during the 60's. We will have catered lunch from Chappy's Deli on the lawn of the capital before heading to the Hyundai Manufacturing Plant to witness the amazing process of car making. Students will learn about every process in auto manufacturing and witness with eyes, every step except PAINTING.
