About this event
Designed for both the beginner and experienced painter, in this course you will be introduced to the language of painting and the use of color and composition to create realistic portraits and figures in oils. Relax and learn in a non-stressful environment from a professional artist. Returning students are always introduced to new techniques to help them move forward with their painting! Max. 4. This class is held in person with physical distancing and mask requirements Supply List • Brushes: Filberts: One brush, size 4. Rounds: One brush each of the following sizes: 1, 4, 6. Flats: One brush each of the following sizes: 8, 20. Synthetic hair brushes can usually be found cheaper in sets. Mixed Synthetic brushes are usually both soft and durable and work well. The fine hair brushes like sable are more expensive but will last longer. You can wait to buy your brushes until after the first class where their variations will be discussed. • Canvas: You will be provided a canvas on the first day of class, however, you will also want to get another canvas around 16” x 20”. Feel free to wait on purchasing this until after class starts. Containers/ Cleaners: You will need one or two small jars or cups to keep for water, baby food jar sized. • Brush Washing Soap – there are numerous options to choose from. I use “The Masters brush washing soap and preserver.” • Miscellaneous: Palette (We will discuss the different types of palettes and their pros/cons in class, so you won’t need this the first day) • Some Cotton Rags • Paper towel roll • One Palette Knife • Optional: Rubber Gloves • Paint: If you are going to paint often at home and don’t want to use solvents, I recommend using water-based oil paints, which perform like regular oils. However, if you already have regular oils feel free to use those but I want you to have the colors listed: Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue hue, Cadmium Yellow hue, Cadmium
