Since 2010, Hope Springs Water has provided hope to the developing world through clean water, improved sanitation, and public health and hygiene education. Water scarcity affects 40% of the world’s population, with more than 1,000 children dying each day due to preventable water and sanitation-related illnesses. The profits from this year's race will be used to drill wells in Africa and Central America. What better way to show gratitude for clean water than by giving it to others? Run for water on Thanksgiving Day in Athens!
Along with supporting good health around the world, this year, Hope Springs Water is teaming up with the Texas Medical Association to bring good health and well-being to our community. Through TMA’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program, the first 100 registrants will receive a FREE bike helmet for children 14 and under. Also, all attendees will have an opportunity to get a FREE flu shot as part of TMA’s Be Wise, Immunize program. Finally, if walking is a part of your regular exercise routine, participants can sign up for Athens’ first ever Walk With a Doc program! Beginning with the Turkey Trot, join a physician from the Henderson County Medical Society on the 3rd Saturday of every month, and learn about the keys to good health as you walk for wellness!
