Birth to 5 years & Caregiver. This is the original Music Together® class that encourages children and families to experience the joy of making music together in the grass and under shady trees! Child development researchers support the idea that all children are musical, learn best through play and recommend mixed-age groupings because they foster natural, family-style learning. In our classes, your child interacts with peers of different ages and participates at their own level in singing, moving, listening, observing, chanting or exploring musical instruments. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones and older children learn by leading younger ones. Registered families receive a Triangle CD and songbook + access to download music. In case of inclement weather, Stephanie will lead class online via Zoom or use the weather make-up day. Participants will physical/social distance and commit to weekly self-health screenings. Instructor: Stephanie Urban. 5 classes. No class on 7/15. Scholarship recipients pay $50 material fee.
Meet the Teacher: Stephanie Urban is a violist and music educator who has been teaching instrumental music for over 15 years. She began her work as a registered Music Together teacher in fall 2019, and loves sharing the joy of musical play with families. She first fell in love with Music Together as a parent, and can regularly be heard singing the music around the house, in the car, or at the grocery store. She still attends classes with her children. Stephanie studied Viola Performance and Music Education at the University of Michigan and is an active chamber musician and educator. She is the Director of String Ensembles at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and regularly performs in the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit area. She maintains a private studio of violin, viola, and piano students at her home in Saline, Michigan.
If more than one child in the same family is attending, only one adult is needed. Scholarship recipients pay $50 for materials. Please bring a blanket to sit on. All in-person programs are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather or an influx of the number of COVID-19 throughout the community. Participants will physical/social distance and commit to weekly self-health screenings. Rec and Ed follows current mask-wearing requirements and recommendations from MDHHS and the CDC. Our summer class mask-wearing policy is as follows (and is subject to change based on MDHHS guidance or orders): INDOORS: Masks are required. OUTDOORS: Masks are encouraged but not required unless social distancing can't be maintained, which will be at the discretion of the instructor/coach with assistance from parents participants. Masks should be brought to class each week for all participants (age 2 and up).
